Protect Your Basement From Flooding as Michigan Lake Levels Remain High
Earlier this year, Michigan residents near the Great Lakes dealt with record breaking water levels that threatened homes and flooded areas near the lakes.
After a damaging spring and summer, water levels have started to decrease several inches in Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Ontario, Lake Superior, and Lake St. Clair.
However, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers predicts that water levels will remain high for at least six months, leaving areas that are prone to flooding vulnerable. The Corps of Engineers has also predicted that the outflow from Lake St. Clair to the Detroit River will remain high.
The high water levels put homes near the bodies of water in danger of flooding.
