100 Year Old Home with 'Michigan Basement' gets Waterproofing in Deerfield, MI
Challenge
These homeowners in Deerfield, MI noticed that water was starting to seep through the walls. The house is about 100 years old and the basement is what is referred to as a Michigan basement. This Michigan basement consists of concrete block walls and a poured floor. Another concern aside from water seeping in was humidity which can contribute to damage and mold growth. Finding a way to control these issues was a priority for these homeowners, so they called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair.
Solution
HomeSpec sent their project manager, Keith, to inspect the area. He took a thorough look around, both inside and outside of the house, to make recommendations for services that the home needed most. To address the water getting into the space, Keith suggested an interior drainage system using WaterGuard®, connecting that IDS to a TripleSafe™ Sump Pump, and encapsulating with CleanSpace®. He also recommended installing a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This combination of products would drain water and pump it away from the house as well as protect the walls, floors, and air. The homeowners approved of these options and a crew was scheduled to return to the home at a later date. The team was led by foreman Jon, and together the crew was able to complete the project in just three days.
