Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: HomeSpec Stops Redford, MI Basement Flooding
What do you do when your basement keeps flooding? You call for help! In this case, a Redford, MI homeowner called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair to help fix the decade old problem. The homeowner wanted to utlize their basement after avoiding it for almost ten years thanks to water damaging their personal property. Being able to use the space would require not only addressing the water itself, but the concern of mold and quality of the foundation as well. HomeSpec sent a senior project manager, Erik, to do an inspection of the area.
After careful consideration, Erik recommended waterproofing the basement using a WaterGuard® interior drainage system, a new Sump Pump, and a new sump discharge. He explained how these products would catch any water that finds its way through the walls and then pump the water away from the house. The homeowner approved of these solutions and HomeSpec scheduled a crew, led by foreman Jon D., to install them.
Trench Dug For IDS System
When installing an interior drainage system, there has to be enough room for the drains to be nestled under the floor.
IDS Covered with Protective Layer
The stones fill in the extra space created when making room for the drains and both are covered with plastic so water can reach the drains freely without being clogged or blocked by the new floor that will be applied on top. The features along the walls allow for any water to reach the drains without flooding the floor.
Fresh Concrete Floor Hides Interior Drainage System
New concrete is poured over the IDS to protect the system and level the floor without tripping hazards. Once the concrete is dry, it blends with the rest of the original concrete floor. The basement is now waterproofed!
