Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Soaked Floors in Sterling Heights, MI Basement Solved with Interior Drainage System
A homeowner in Sterling Heights, MI had an unfinished basement that was leaking in multiple locations; however, there were no visible cracks. The homeowner was most concerned about the area near the electrical box. Knowing these problems would only get worse, they called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help. HomeSpec’s project manager, Jeremiah, conducted an inspection of the entire basement and recommended products to permanently solve the problem.
Jeremiah suggested a WaterGuard® interior drainage system, a sump pump, and a sump discharge to capture the water and pump it out and away from the house. He also recommended using a CleanSpace® wall vapor barrier around the electrical box to protect it and offer peace of mind. The homeowner agreed to these options and worked with HomeSpec to schedule a crew for the installations. Brandon led the team in waterproofing this basement and while they were working the crew got to see firsthand how much water was intruding. After the products were installed, the homeowner was happy with the results and knowing their basement was protected.
Water Leaks in While Basement is Being Waterproofed
While HomeSpec was digging trenches for the interior drainage system, the trenches filled with water. The crew knew they had to get this IDS installed quickly.
Drains Placed in Trenches
The trenches are dug along the foundation footer so they can be securely nestled below the surface of the floor.
Protective Layer Over IDS
The drains are protected by rocks and plastic so water can flow in freely without the risk of clogging.
Concrete Seals in Interior Drainage System
Every IDS by HomeSpec is sealed with new concrete to create an even surface with the rest of the basement floor.
