Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Plymouth, MI Basement Usable Again After Waterproofing
A family moved into their Plymouth, MI home in the summer of 2022 and they have no plans of moving. Unfortunately, three of the rooms in the finished basement had been leaking whenever there was heavy rain. It got to the point where the children were not allowed to play downstairs anymore. The family bought a new sump pump thinking that would solve their issues. When that did not work, they decided it was time to waterproof the basement so the leaks would stop altogether. They called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help.
One of HomeSpec’s project managers, Jeremiah, explored the areas of concern as well as outside of the house during his inspection. He proposed to the homeowners that they replace their old sump pump with a stronger sump pump that is compatible with an interior drainage system. This system would use WaterGuard® french drains, connect to a new sump discharge, and connect to an exterior discharge line. After making sure the water would be properly removed, the walls could be refinished using the Everlast Wall Restoration System. The final touch would be to add a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. The homeowners agreed with this plan and had HomeSpec plan the installation dates. This project was led by Brandon and Rick to ensure a smooth and efficient transition. The homeowners were happy with their dry basement and prepared to finish the rest of it for their family to use again.
Basement Rooms Flooded with Heavy Rains
This Plymouth, MI home with a finished basement would flood in multiple rooms whenever there was a downpour. The kids could no longer safely use the space, so the homeowners turned to HomeSpec for help.
Sections of Wall Removed and Floor Trenched
To waterproof the basement, HomeSpec installed an interior drainage system the nestles under the basement floor. Rocks and plastic protect the trains from getting clogged with debris.
Interior Drainage System Cemented into Place
The IDS, after being covered with rocks and plastic, was covered with new cement that was applied flush with the original basement floor. This prevents tripping hazards and makes refinishing the basement possible. Once the concrete dried, HomeSpec could then install the Everlast Wall Restoration System where the walls had been removed.
