Old Sump Pump Not Removing Water
This Belleville, MI had a sump pump; however, it did not have a system to remove water throughout the basement and was not removing enough water that did enter.
Water Floods in While Waterproofing the Basement
The first step to installing an interior drainage system is to dig a trench along the area of concern or the entire perimeter. While HomeSpec was digging a trench, an abundance of water entered the basement and filled the void.
Interior Drainage System Installation Progresses
Once the water had been removed, the HomeSpec team continued to install the interior drainage system. WaterGuard® French drains were placed into the trenches and then covered with stones to prevent debris from clogging the system. These stones also kept the sump pump securely in place before finalizing the project. A layer of plastic covered the drains and stones to protect the system from the top layer that would be added. The sump pump was connected to discharge lines so the water would be efficiently pumped out and away from the home's foundation.
Concrete and Battery Complete Interior Drainage System
With the WaterGuard® drains and sump pump securely in place, the final step was to seal the system. A layer of fresh concrete was applied and leveled to match the original basement floor. The battery keeps the system running smoothly.
