170-Year-Old Foundation Crumbling and Leaking in Attica, MI
Challenge
This beautiful countryside home was built in the 1850's and had several problems in the cellar/crawl space. The sump pump was old and not working properly to expel water away from the home, and the base of the foundation was crumbling. These are common problems seen in old homes. The older the home, the more severe the problems can be - and this home has been through 170 years of wear and tear. It's better to get it fixed now before it gets worse, though. Even 170 years isn't too late!
Solution
To fix these issues, our team installed a sump pump connected to a perimeter drainage system to prevent flooding or water issues in the crawl space. This plays an important role in preventing mold growth and rot from moisture. They also installed SmartJack support posts along with several supplemental beams to repair the structural damage.
