Akron, Mi Sagging Floors Support with Proper Crawl Space Support Jacks
Challenge
A homeowner in Akron, Mi had previous inspections done before buying their current home. Throughout those inspections it was clearly evident that the home needed serious crawl space and foundation repair, including a proper crawl space support system and replacement I-beams. They decided originally to just leave things the way they were despite the recommended actions. However, the problem would only compound over the homeowner's years of residency in the home. The floors were beginning to sag, and he felt what he described as a "Concerningly hollow yet bouncy" feeling sometimes as he walked across the house. It was becoming more and more clear that something wasn't right as time went on. It wasn't until a houseguest pointed out their concerns, that the homeowner realized how dire the situation may be. They searched out a Foundation and Crawl Space Repair contractor near Akron, Mi, and got in touch with HomeSpec.
Solution
Due to the restrictive nature of this particular crawl space, Jesse originally thought of proposing excavation to clear it out before addressing the problems. After discussing possible access options with the homeowner, it was decided it would be best to temporarily remove sections of flooring to gain work access from above the problem areas. With our crews being able to reliably access the sites in question, we would have to replace the main support beam entirely and install the use of our SmartJack Crawl Space Support systems to replace the failing makeshift brick supports from before. Our crawl space support jacks are capable of carrying over 60,000 lbs with their galvanized steel design, while remaining fully adjustable for changing needs. It's this same adjustable design that allows this crawl space support to fit nearly anywhere needed as a custom fit. The SmartJack system addresses weak foundation soils by creating a solid base of engineered fill to distribute the weight of the home.
