Moldy Crawl Space Repaired, Insulated, and Encapsulated in Royal Oak
Challenge
A newly married couple in Royal Oak, MI bought their first home, which includes their first crawl space. Unfortunately, they quickly discovered there was a strong, musty smell lingering in the air. Not only this but the floors over the crawl space were cold. They decided to investigate the crawl space only to find that it was moldy and cluttered with debris. Knowing this would require professional intervention, they called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help.
Solution
HomeSpec sent a senior project manager, Zach, to inspect the crawl space. He shared that removing the debris would be the first step. After doing so, he recommended treating and preventing mold using Mold-X2, insulating the crawl space using SilverGlo™, encapsulating using CleanSpace®, and adding an EverLast™ crawl space door. Not only will insulating with SilverGlo™ keep the cold air out but it is made of a material that will not trap moisture and therefore will not grow mold with or without Mold-X2. Encapsulating with CleanSpace® keeps the crawl space dry, clean, and comfortable when you do have to enter the space. And the EverLast™ crawl space door provides a waterproof seal. These repairs were made by HomeSpec's crew led by foreman Jon. This combination of materials offered the couple peace of mind and a dry, mold-free crawl space.
