Inspection Reveals Support Concerns
This basement has some support beams in place. However, it is clear to see that the concrete is crumbling and no longer provides a secure footing. There are also cracks leading between the posts.
Old Support Beams Removed to Make Room for SmartJack® Beams
The HomeSpec crew used temporary supports to safely remove the old beams and begin installing the SmartJack® steel support beams. Between two of the beams and along the walls of the basement, an interior drainage system is being installed simultaneously.
Rocks Partially Fill Space of SmartJack® Footing
Small rocks partially take up the bottom of the footing and then concrete will be poured on top to secure and permanently stabilize the SmartJack® steel support beams. Other repairs such as wall stabilization and an internal drainage system are also visible in this picture.
SmartJack® Steel Support Beams Securely Installed
Concrete was poured over the rocks to fill the remaining space on the footing. The concrete was then leveled to be flush with the rest of the floor, including the crack between the beams.
