Foundation Repair Photo Album: Sinking Floors in Allen Park, MI Home Supported by HomeSpec
A homeowner in Allen Park, MI noticed their foundation was sinking. One of the telltale signs was having unlevel floors. They tried DIY a solution and thought the problem was solved; however, last year they could see more signs of sinking. Not only were the floors uneven but there were also cracks in the basement walls. Thankfully, they had a friend who had worked with HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair in the past. This helpful referral made it easy to reach out.
One of HomeSpec’s project managers, Jeremiah, went out to the home for a free inspection. He explored both the interior and exterior of the home to gain a full understanding of the settlement issues. He observed the DIY efforts the homeowner had installed and built ideas around what was already in place. Jeremiah proposed installing another main beam and supporting it using SmartJack® support posts. This beam would reinforce the sagging of the main floor and ease the homeowner’s concerns about the sinking getting worse. They agreed to this plan and scheduled HomeSpec’s crew, led by Jon and Ryan, to install the supports. The homeowner was happy with their work and the final result of the installation.
SmartJack® Support Posts Installation
To install a SmartJack® support post in this scenario means digging out a portion of the floor to create a footing. Once the support is correctly aligned and drilled into place, new concrete is poured to fill in the remaining space and create an even floor again.
Additional Main Beam Installed to Support Sagging Main Floor
The new main beam was installed into the concrete block wall to provide strong support.
