A homeowner in Westland, MI has been in the same house for 20 years. They moved in shortly after the home was built in 2003. Throughout the years, they have used the basement as a storage area. Unfortunately, cracks had developed and began to leak. During some of the heavy rains in recent years, so much water had leaked into the basement that the homeowner was concerned their stored items would be damaged. With these concerns in mind, they reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a free estimate.
One of HomeSpec’s senior project managers, Erik, went out to the home and inspected the homeowner’s concerns. He also looked around at other spots that grabbed his attention as a trained inspector such as the outside of the home. Afterward, Erik made a proposal for the homeowner and together they decided what would best meet the home’s needs. The homeowner decided on a WaterGuard® interior drainage system and CleanSpace® vapor barrier. This combination would capture any water from the walls or floor and lead it to an existing basin. These repairs were installed by teams led by foreman Jon and plumber Rick. The homeowner was happy that their belongings would be safe in the basement moving forward.
Prolonged instances of water damage to walls can become a very unsightly problem, especially with drywall being prone to mold growth when water damaged. The first instance shows a situation where a homeowner wasn't sure of the source, but water was seeping into her basement along her walls, staining and damaging them. The second image however, shows our installed BrightWall system. BrightWall is a fully waterproof solution and creates a vapor barrier on the basement walls to block out water vapor and humidity, ensuring the homeowner won't have to worry about mold growth or rot. BrightWall provides a lively clean look to the space while it also directs water seepage into the perimeter drain. Quite an impressive difference in visual appeal and functionality!
This homeowner contacted HomeSpec about water leaking into his basement through cracks in the wall.
Our crew repaired the cracks by injecting them with our long-lasting polyurethane sealant, preventing any future water issues.
A homeowner that was experiencing a persistent leak in their basement every time it rained reached out to us in order to help them solve their problem. When we arrived, we noticed the size of the crack and recommended they have it filled with high powered urethane crack injection in order to stop the leak as well as prevent the crack from opening again in the future.
Our team installed an egress window to replace an existing basement window.
