This homeowner in Detroit, MI was experiencing water leaking into their basement which was causing mold to grow and leading to further health issues, we solved this issue by re-flooring the basement and installing a WaterGuard Drainage system to prevent any further damage.
These homeowners contacted HomeSpec because water was seeping into their finished basement. They had severe cracks and rod holes in their foundation which were the culprits.
The best thing to do is get a free inspection before finishing your basement to make sure no problems will pop up later on. Repairing the water and foundation issues first and foremost will save time and money in the future.
In order to protect this basement, our crew installed an interior drainage system to collect the water and drain it away from the foundation. We also repaired the cracks and rod holes, and then installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier over the walls. This helps direct water to the drainage system, and prevents water vapor from passing through your foundation.
In 2022, a family moved into a home in Plymouth, MI. Over the last couple of years, the finished basement has suffered water damage during heavy rains. It had gotten so bad that the children were no longer able to play downstairs. The family installed a sump pump hoping to solve this problem; however, the next time it rained the sump pump proved ineffective. They were ready to finally be done with these leaks so they called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair.
Jeremiah, a project manager for HomeSpec, went to the home to do an inspection. He saw the sump pump the family had purchased as well as the areas where water intrusion in the basement occurred. He shared with them that a sump pump was a good idea, but that it alone was not enough to stop the water. Jeremiah proposed using a powerful sump pump that is compatible with an interior drainage system using WaterGuard® french drains. These drains would line the majority of the basement walls which would reach where the previous sump pump could not. He also suggested using the Everlast Wall Restoration System which is a waterproof basement finishing material and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. The homeowners agreed to use these products. HomeSpec’s foremen, Brandon and Rick, led the installations for this project. The family was happy to have their usable basement back for the whole family when the work was completed.

Sidney, one of HomeSpec’s inspection managers, went out to the home and thoroughly evaluated the situation. He concluded the best way to waterproof the basement and discussed a repair plan with the homeowner. They agreed to have HomeSpec install a WaterGuard® interior drainage system, which would connect to an existing basin, as well as a CleanSpace® vapor barrier along the walls of the basement. A foreman named Brandon and a plumber named Rick led the crew in these repairs. While installing the WaterGuard® interior drainage system, they were able to blend the concrete with the deteriorating areas to create a more cohesive aesthetic. The homeowner was happy with the completed project!
In Livonia, MI, a homeowner saw that was was leaking in a corner of their unfinished basement. After living in the home for 20 years, they were considering selling in the future. Regardless if they stayed or sold, they knew that this water leak needed to be addressed. After some looking around, the homeowner found HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair. HomeSpec sent their senior project manager, Erik, to do an inspection.
After some careful thought, Erik suggested an interior drainage system using WaterGuard® and connecting it to discharge to the storm cleanout. This system would effectively catch any water from a poured foundation such as this one and dispel it, keeping the basement dry. The homeowner liked this plan and moved forward with the repairs. HomeSpec sent their plumber, Rick, and foreman, Josh, to lead the work. The homeowner was satisfied with the work and service from HomeSpec and left a positive review!
