Marine City, MI Home's Main Beam Compromised by Mold, HomeSpec Installs Reinforcements

A family in Marine City, MI was renting their home to another family member. This tennant had gone into the crawl space and quickly became aware of a burst pipe along one of the walls. There were puddles throughout the crawl space and the insulation had been damaged as well. The family wanted to have the home evaluated by a professional for things like mold and wood damage. They reached out to HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair to get this process started.

One of the senior project managers, Zach, inspected the entirety of the crawl space and returned to the family. He shared the unfortunate news that the mold had compromised the integrity of the wood in the crawl space, including the main beam. The family was alarmed by this information and prepared to have it handled immediately. Zach suggested HomeSpec get rid of the mold using Mold-X2. He also suggested that instead of replacing the damaged beam, HomeSpec install a steel beam along side the wooden one and use steel SmartJack® support posts to reinforce the home. The family accepted this proposal and they were happy with the decision as soon as the work was completed.

The current homeowner wanted to ensure this was addressed so the sale could proceed. They called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair to see what could be done about getting the crawl space repaired.

Zach, a senior project manager for HomeSpec, entered the crawl space to do another inspection. This combination would get rid of the mold and prevent it from coming back. The homeowner agreed to this plan and a HomeSpec crew led by foreman David went forward with the repairs. The crawl space was transformed from damp, dirty, and unlevel to a dry, clean, and balanced zone.

Crawl Space Encapsulated With CleanSpace® In Fenton, MI

HomeSpec Waterproofing & Foundation Repair sent one of their inspectors, Erik, to a home in Fenton, MI to evaluate the homeowner’s concerns. While the initial focus was on foundation settlement, Erik knew their crawl space needed additional attention. He suggested encapsulating the crawl space using the CleanSpace® system. It protects the home both beneath and above from moisture and mold, keeps the critters out, and provides a clean area for storage.

The work was carried out by HomeSpec’s team headed by foreman Jon and plumber Rick. By the time they completed the projects, the crawl space was a beautiful, clean dream from corner to corner. The homeowner was thrilled with the results and now recommends HomeSpec to others in search of home repairs.
